A tribute to a good friend
Let me tell you about a good friend who died suddenly of Pneumonia on Saturday the 17th of September. Bronwyn was not only a good friend, but the proof reader for my first published novel - Bloodline: Alliance - before the book even landed in the hands of the publisher who eventually took it on. She loved the book dearly and believed in it at a time when very few people had read it and even when it was being rejected by most publishers and agents. She devoted hours and hours of time to the manuscript, doing such a good job, that by the time a publisher did accept it, the editor’s comment was, "Amazing: a book that needs nothing done to it." The book went straight to print.
Throughout the years since, Bronwyn was a strong supporter, interested in the book’s every success (no matter how tiny) and in my journey as a writer. She encouraged me in all my artistic endeavours and she loved Bloodline like it was her own.
Do you have a dear friend who encourages and inspires you, or a mentor, or even a relative who helps you become all you hope to be? Then pick up the phone or go and see them and tell them how much they mean to you. Don’t put off letting that person know how valuable they are. Life is short. Life is precious.
Alternatively, be a ‘Bronwyn’ for someone. Encourage others, be interested in them, and help them be all that they can be. You just never know what life-changing, maybe even world-changing effect you will have.
Lisa.
