The Journey
What caused Sacrifice’s delay?
February, 2011
As I sit here writing this, I am aware of two things.
Firstly, Sacrifice was supposed to come out in November 2010, and it didn’t. Secondly, I haven’t written a Journey entry since last September. Both of these are due to the same problem: in publishing, sometimes the strictest of schedules can be thwarted by the smallest things.
The distributer unfortunately held up Sacrifice with a proof copy that went astray not once, but twice. A few weeks ago, it finally arrived on the desk of the designer - after over three months of waiting - and she has hastily approved the proof. That means that Sacrifice is now out and is not only appearing in online stores but is also available to order through most bookshops internationally. We are still ironing out the kinks by correcting some of the online listings, but it’s there. Take a look at some of the places you can purchase it.
As for why I haven’t written since September, well, that’s partly due to the fact that I kept thinking, "Any day now Sacrifice will have been released and I will have something to say," and partly because I have been working on other exciting things, such as the trailer** that you can see on this website or through YouTube.
I have also spent my time adding quite a few things to this website. I get asked a lot of questions about the books themselves, such as: are there three books in the Bloodline series and is Sacrifice connected to Bloodline. There have also been questions about the ‘out of print’ copies versus the new Littleman copies. Well, I hope I’ve answered all those questions now, and you can check out my responses.
There are plenty of other changes to the site - and even more coming - so go digging and see what you can find.
I want to say a special thank you to those of you who follow me on Facebook. It is a small following but a good one. I enjoy your feedback, and your encouragement has been significant to me in ways you can’t imagine. It makes me feel a part of something, not isolated - as writers oftentimes feel. And it is such a good place to go to ask the questions we writers usually have to guess the answers to.
Once again, I am grateful to all readers, fans, and even those just popping in on a whim, who keep following this Journey.
**A special thanks to John Hunter of John Hunter Media who donated his time and his skills to get this trailer done. He is seriously good at what he does, and the day spent sitting in his studio, watching him work, has gone down as one of the absolute highlights of my writing career.
