FAQs
What are your favourite books/authors?
Another book that heavily influenced my style was Isobel Carmody's Obernewtyn. The earlier ones in that series are so good, and exactly the kind of character development and storyline I enjoy most.
Another of my favourites is Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern. That's a book I could read over and over, and seem to do just that. Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince was a most enjoyable ride. That's another one I've picked up more than once - something I rarely do. I wish there were more books out there like hers, ones a little more tailored to the female reader in a male-dominated market.
I also read a lot of non-fiction. I am addicted to books on the craft of writing. My bookshelf is full of them. I love craft and art books. I love history books. One of my favourite authors of all time is non-fiction writer Phillip Yancey. If anyone has influenced the theme and message of my books, it's him. More than that, his books changed my life.
