How long does it take you to write a book?

Every book is different, but I usually find the writing part doesn't take me long at all. SACRIFICE took me a whirlwind seven days. (Yes, I sat down on a Saturday and started writing, and by the following Friday, it was done.) I don't think I will ever top the surge of creativity that poured out that week. BLOODLINE: ALLIANCE took me 28 days. REDEMPTION, well, that took several months. BLOODLINE: COVENANT - I lost count how many times I rewrote that one.

Whilst the writing part tends to be fast for me, the editing part drags on forever. It can take me up to six months to edit, edit, edit, and then another several months to proofread. The editing is time-consuming, but well worth it. I tell my students that the editing process is where the story really comes to life.
